India has lifted the Karbonn Moblie series 2009 with 3-1 victory with the last and final game of the series was abandoned due to dangerous pitch conditions held in Feroz shan Kotla, Delhi. The match was initially suspended in 24th over of the Sri Lankan innings (83 for 5) when the debutant Sudeep Tyagi bowled an over to kandamby in which the first ball had a very low bounce followed by two deliveries which had decent bounces and the fourth delivery took off like a rubber ball bounce which went above the batsmen and keeper’s head had prompted the Sri Lankan players in the dressing room to stop the play. Captain Kumar Sangakkara went to the middle and had chat with the two umpires and Captain Dhoni and convinced as the wicket was too dangerous to play. He also had his key player Dilshan injured during the course of the play as he was hit on elbow by an uneven bouncer delivery by Ashish Nehra. Sanath Jayasuriya also had blows several times on his hands and elbows and so as Kandamby which forced Sri Lankan captain to take such a decision. Then Match referee Alan Hurst went to middle and suspended the match. He then talked with the curator and officials if they could have a match on another pitch. He then declared the match abandoned considering the amount of time it takes to prepare another pitch, uncertainty of the new pitch and other technical issues. Crowd who had turned on large numbers went on disappointing with the sad finish of the match. Thus India ended the Sri Lankan tour with good, convincing victory in both the ODI and test series.
