NSW BluesNew South Blues of Australia thrashed the West Indies domestic T20 champions Trinidad and Tobago by 41 runs to clinch the first Champions League T20 title held in Hyderabad. Brett Lee’s all round performance in the finals made the NSW win a jackpot of US$ 2.5 million. NSW blues, who was asked to bat first, got off to bad start with six of those top order batsmen falling at a score of 83 runs in 11.2 overs.  Lee, who came at the fall of Smith’s wicket, smashed 5 huge sixes and 1 four to score 48 runs of just 31 balls and helped his team post a decent total of 159 runs in 20 overs before being got out on the last ball of their innings to Rampaul.

Chasing 160, Trinidad and Tobago got a shocker start with their star batsmen’s Perkins and Simmons getting out cheaply for just 0 and 4 runs respectively. With Lee’s twin strike of both of those batsmen allowed NSW blues to bounce back and bowl many tight spells, which made them earn wickets at regular intervals. Keiron Pollard, who shined in T&T victory against Blues in League match, fell for just 26 runs in 15 balls at the team score of 113 runs in 14.6 overs. With the exit of Pollard, other two batsmen threw their wicket away as they were bundled out for just 118 runs in 15.5 overs and made New South Wales win by a margin of 41 runs. Brett Lee who shined in all the departments was declared man of the match and man of the series.
